Choir "Oma pajo" back

Choir "Oma Pajo" was organised in 1990 at the initiative of "Union of Karelian peoples". Klara Stasyuk was the organizer of the choir.

The collective's repertoire includes national and author's pieces of music in the Karelian language, musical-drama pieces with playing on national instruments, dancing.

"Oma pajo" conserts help to demonstrate the creative individuality of every performer. So it was not accidentally that in 1999 a special folklore group "Kezriaju" was formed. The choir became famous not only in Petrozavodsk but in many regions of Karelia.

Special attention is given to the conserts in the places of compact living of Karelians: in Olonets, Pryazha and Kalevala regions. In 1994 it was awarded the title of "national choir".
In 1997 Lyubov Nikitina became its art director. At the V Regional Festival of Karelian Arts in town of Vesjegonsk (the Tver region) the choir was recognized as a very original group. "Oma Pajo" represented the culture of Karelia in 1997 at the VI Finnougrik Folklore Festival held in Tartu (Estonia).

The Academic Choir "Inkeri" back

The Academic Choir "Inkeri" was created in April, 1990 under the protection of "Ingermanland Union of Finns of Karelia". A talented musician Igor Arkhipov has been working with the singers for about ten years. Many songs from their repertoire were composed by him. Evgenia Vasilyeva is the choirmaster.
In 1994 it was awarded the title "National choir".

The first repertoire of the Finnish and Ingermanland folk songs was renewed by spiritual, classic and modern music. The choir participates in all town festivals and in all the actions of "Ingermanland Union of Finns of Karelia". Many times they went to Kondopoga on concert tours and gave concerts to the parishioners of the Lutheran Church. Their trip to the land of forefathers, Ingermanlandia, became on of the most outstanding events. After a long interval the "Ivanov Day" holiday began to be celebrated again. For 10 years it keeps national tradition. The members of group got great impressions from their performances in Finland at the "Our Roots in Finland" festival in 1992, at the 80-th Anniversary of Independence of Finland in 1997, at the summer festival of Ingermanland people in Goteborg (Sweden) in 1996 and in Turku (Finland) in 1998.

The "Ukrainian Song" choir. back

The "Ukrainian Song" choir was created in November, 1994 at the initiative of "Society of Ukrainian Culture of Karelia".
From the very fist days the group was led by Clara Nikolayevna Stasyuk, a Merited Artist of the Karelian Republic.
At the beginning it was a small group of the Ukrainian living in Karelia.
Nowdays "Ukrainian Song" is a big art collective. The repertoire is quite diverse: Ukrainian folk songs, songs of Russian cossaks, Byelorussian songs and works of amateur composers. A special men's vocal group "Jaseny" singing old Ukrainian songs was formed in the choir. The concert life of the group is various and rich. People of Petrozavodsk and regions of the Karelian Republic enjoy listening to their songs.
The "Ukrainian Song" choir became a diploma-winner of the I All-Russia Contest of Ukrainian choirs in Moscow.
Especially significunt was the performance in the Ukraine at the III International Festival of Folk Music "Bereginja" in the town of Lutsk in June, 1998.

The Vepss' vocal group"Kevaz' vezi". back

The Vepss' vocal group"Kevaz' vezi" was formed in 1999 at the initiative of "Society of Vepss' Culture". The leader of "Kevaz' vezi" Svetlana Kosyreva works in the traditional song manner of the Vepss and develops it. National Vepss' songs are on the repertoire of the ensemble; besides they sing lyrics and ritual folklore.

 

Men's Vocal Ensemble "Rospev". back

Men's Vocal Ensemble "Rospev" was organized in 1994. Rospev began its life under the aegis of "Society of Russian Culture". The idea of creating the ensemble belongs to Professor of culturology of Petrozavodsk State University Victor Kalikin.The conductor of the group is Kir Rozhkov. The Ensemble "Rospev" has a rich repertoire including Russian spiritual music, Russian folk songs, Russian and foreign classics. "Rospev" takes part in language conferences, literature-musical parties, conserts of spiritual music. The vocal ensemble took part in the Festival of Chamber Music in 1997 and in the All-Union Contest "Singing Russia".
It exists for 5 years and its participants enjoy learning beautiful Russian spiritual music and bring it closer to masses.

 

The Ensemble "Iloine" back

Ensemble was founded in 1993. Tatyana Berezina is the conductor. The main principle of work of "Iloine" is the principle of musical drama, so every concert of the ensemble is a small piece of drama. Besides folk songs the ensemble made some music-drama performances. "Iloine" received a diploma as a winner of many Republic competitions such as "Kizhi - the workshop of childhood". It is an active participant of annual actions, devoted to "Days of Kalevala". The ensemble took part in international concerts and got a diploma at the festival "Kihaus" (Finland, 1998) Every year "Iloine" performs in schools, kindergartens, museums and go on concert tours to schoolchildren in Olonets, Pryazha regions and Vepss area.

 

The children's ensemble of cantele "Kulkuset". back

The children's ensemble of cantele "Kulkuset", formed from the circle "Teaching Cantele". For six years the ensemble has been conducted by Irma Tepponen, and now Tatyana Trunova. While teaching the conduktors of "Kulkuset" the traditional method of teaching playing cantele: children watch the performer playing cantele immitating him. "Kulkuset" is a constant partisipant of International Cantele Festivals, of the Competitions of cantele-players, of the annual musical events during "Days of Kalevala". Karelian and Finnish traditional music, works for 5 and 10 string cantele is on the repertoire of the ensemble.
In 1999 there appeared a group of children playing a Vepss' cantele.

 

The Children's Ensemble "Lasten Piiri" back

In 1993 the language club "Grandparents and Grandsons" was founded in the "Republic Centre of National Culture", which was headed by Irya Nisconen. Grandchildren in this club became the first participants of the children's ensemble. "Lasten Piiri" (Children's Round Dances"). Marina Pavlova conducts the ensemble. Elza Dmitrieva is the ensemble's languages consultant.
Children learn here Finnish and the traditions of the people thanks to close contacts of different generations.
"Lasten Piiri" is a constant participant of the traditional Finnish holidays such as "Pikki Joulu", "Aitin Paiva", held by "Ingermanland Union of Finns of Karelia". Combination of experiense and wisdom of the adults with children's sincerity creates a particular charm on the stage.
